Laura Dukes was named to the Capital One Academic District Three First Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

She has also previously been named a 2014 Conference USA Academic Medal winner and a 2013 NFCA All-Academic Scholar along with being named to the 2013 and 2012 Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s list. Dukes becomes the first Blue Raider since Lindsey Vander Lugt’s second-team selection to be named CoSIDA Academic All-District and the first since Muriel Ledbetter in 2006 to garner a first-team selection.

The junior catcher leads Middle Tennessee in batting average (.368), hits (50), walks (33), doubles (16) and on-base percentage (.520). Dukes recently set the MT single-season walks record after recording three walks against No. 16 Tulsa. She is also tied for the team lead with 30 RBI, while ranking second with five home runs.
