Tyler Beede

Vanderbilt ace Tyler Beede went to San Fransisco with the 14th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft today. Beede only went 8-7 and has a 3.20 ERA this year but was impressive last week when he struck out 14 batters in the Commodores 11-0 win over Xavier in the Nashville Regional at Hawkins field.

The 6’4 right hander consistently throws in the 90s with his fastball and can get up to 97 miles per hour.

By being selected in the first round he carries on a legacy of Vanderbilt pitchers such as Sonny Gray and David Price who have gone in round one in previous years.

Beede will be in action tomorrow against Stanford in the Super Regional and looks to continue his momentum from his dominating performance against Xavier.
