Former Dore Steve Tchiengang signs with Timba Timisoara in Romania

Former Vanderbilt standout Steve Tchiengang has signed with a Romanian pro basketball team, Timba Timisoara for the 2014-15 basketball season. Tchiengang had been playing Center for the Island Storm of the National Basketball League of Canda where he averaged 9.5 points and 7 rebounds per game last season in Canada. Last season the Storm finished #2 in the NBL

With Festus Ezeli, Jeffrey Taylor, Lance Goulbourne, Brad Tinsley, and John Jenkins as the starters, Tchiengang embraced his role off the bench and helped the Commodores become the 2012 SEC champions. In the Finals of the SEC Tournament against Kentucky Tchiengang pulled 5 rebounds in only 10 minutes of playing time. The Cameroon native would’ve likely started for just about any other team in the SEC but when Ezeli went down to injury he did start 13 games.

Tchiengang was back in Nashville with former teammates Ezeli and Jenkins last month for a Nike basketball camp.
