Former Governor Betran signs to play in Belgium

Former Austin Peay State guard Travis Betran signed to play for the VOO Wolves Verviers-Pepinster in the Basketball League Belgium.

Betran led the Governors in scoring last year averaging almost 16 points a games as a senior. In his last game in the OVC tournament Betran scored a career high 32 points against UT Martin. He left Austin Peay with 1,008 points in only two seasons.

The New York native didn’t start playing basketball until the 10th grade and was invited to a Five-Star camp in Philadelphia where he did well enough to earn a scholarship to Covenant Christian Ministries Academy in Atlanta, GA. After high school he wound up at JUCO Kilgore College where he led the team in scoring as a freshman and sophomore. Betran finished out his eligibility with Austin Peay.
