Muschamp says Florida buried 2013 seaon, ready to move forward

After a terrible season in 2013 Florida coach Will Muschamp is ready for the 2014 campaign to get underway. With 7 straight losses to end the season last year goes down as one of the most disappointing teams in recent memory. Losses to Vanderbilt and Georgia Southern at home are a rarity. But according to Muschamp he buried the 4-8 record and is starting fresh this Fall.

“I think that that’s something we sort of buried to start the summer,” said Muschamp on Sunday. “It was great motivation through spring and the off season workouts, but something we’ve still go to deal with. I mean, it’s there. I addressed our team about our preparation, about our attitude, about our embracing adversity, having a competitive edge every day. To stick your head in the sand and pretend it was all injuries, that’s not right. You will fool yourself if you believe that. We addressed a lot of those things in the off season and moving forward. We’re getting ready to get started with the 2014 Florida football team.”

Florida was indeed hampered with injuries last year but if Jeff Driskel comes back at 100% Florida could be the darkhorse to with the SEC East in 2014.

In Muschamp’s first season in 2012 the Gators finished 11-1 in the regular season. But despite being double digit favorites Florida lost in the Sugar Bowl to Louisville. And after the 4-8 season last year the pressure is really on for Muschamp. A lot of fans were asking for his head but Florida AD Jeremy Foley stood by him. If things don’t get turned around this year Muschamp could be a dead man walking in 2014.
