Posted on 31 October 2014 by Allen

Cumberland was picked fourth in the Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll announced recently by the league office.

The Bulldogs return seven letterwinners but just one starter from last season’s team that posted a 10-16 mark. Sixth-year head coach Jeremy Lewis welcomes eight newcomers, including six transfers (three from four-year schools, three from junior colleges).

Cumberland opens the season this Saturday at 2 p.m. against Bryan College at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center before hitting the road for three straight contests next week at Middle Georgia State College, Fisk University and Oakwood University.

Campbellsville received six first-place votes and 48 total points for first place in the Coaches’ Poll, with Lindsey Wilson picking up the other first first-place votes and 40 points for second place. Georgetown College was third, just ahead of the Bulldogs, followed by the University of the Cumberlands, Shawnee State, the University of Pikeville and St. Catharine College.
