Eight Cumberland baseball players earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors

Eight Cumberland baseball players were named 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes on Thursday. Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average to be eligible for the award.

Seniors Tyler Alford, Justin Byrd, Clint Meadows and Stevie Smith along with juniors (or redshirt sophomores) Drew Chester, Nick Crawford, Dylan Lannom and Jackson Yates were all honored by the national office during the Avista-NAIA World Series.

Cumberland tied for the second most honorees by any one school along with Siena Heights University and American Institute of Business (AIB) registered the most with 13.

A total of 354 student-athletes from 131 institutions were named.
