Alford voted Second Team Capitol One Academic All-America

Cumberland senior Tyler Alford was voted Second Team Capitol One Academic All-America ®, as announced Monday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Alford batted .331 with 11 doubles, two home runs and 24 RBIs during his senior campaign. The Knoxville, Tenn., native also drew 20 walks and was hit seven times while starting 50 games, 45 of those at catcher. He led the Bulldogs with 20 multi-hit outings and added seven multi-RBI games this season as well.

Alford played in 196 career games at CU, posting 25 doubles with eight homers and 67 RBIs along with a .252 batting average. He saw action in at least 43 contests in each of his four seasons at Cumberland.
