Cumberland University softball coach Heather Stanfill announced the signing of Nipomo, Calif., native Gianna Abatti to scholarship papers this week for the 2015-16 academic year.

Abatti played the last two seasons at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, Calif., playing in 41 games as a freshman, hitting three home runs and registering 20 RBIs. She missed 20 contests this past season with an injury but posted a .424 on-base percentage with eight RBIs and one homer in limited action.

AHC won back-to-back conference championships and finished 61-19 overall during Abatti’s two seasons.

She was a two-time All-League selection at Nipomo High School and won multiple league championships for the Titans at NHS. She is the daughter of Janna Abatti.

Abatti joins Imani Torregano (Laurel, Md.) in this year’s recruiting class.
