The internet might break tonight. Tonight in the 4th quarter of the Browns-Rams preseason game in Cleveland 7th round draft pick from Missouri, Michael Sam sacked former Heisman Trophy winner and 1st round pick out of Texas A&M Johnny Manziel.
Sam made history by being the first openly gay player to be drafted and Manziel made history by being a brash, cocky, and great college football player who likes women and booze. Sam is fighting for a roster spot while Manziel is trying to earn the starting quarterback job. With their meeting in the backfield Sam’s stock had to go up just a little.
Last week Johnny Football was in the news again for flipping a bird at the Redskins bench on Monday Night Football. Manziel was fined $12,000 for the gesture.
This is Sam’s second straight week with a sack in the preseason. If he makes the Rams roster he will likely play on special teams but could earn a spot on the practice squad should he not make the 53 man roster.
