The rumors are true. Dai-Jon Parker and Kedren Johnson have both been kicked off the Vanderbilt basketball team. There have been rumblings all over Nashville that Parker had done something and wouldn’t be returning to the program. Johnson was suspended for the 2013-14 season but had vowed to return and had openly tweeted about returning to the program. But today the news came down as the school made the announcement.

According to Coach Kevin Stallings.

“It is a privilege to be a Vanderbilt basketball player and with that privilege comes a high level of responsibility, both on and off the playing floor. Unfortunately, the standards that were clearly set forth in both cases were not met and led to this decision.

“I did agree, however, to wait to announce both decisions until after they had determined where they would be continuing their college careers. Fortunately, our staff has been preparing for this possibility since last fall and feel that we have brought in six very talented perimeter players to lead us going forward. We certainly wish Dai-Jon and Kedren the best as they move forward with their lives.”

Parker would’ve been a senior this year and had emerged as a leader last year after Eric McClellan was kicked off the team. It’s not known exactly what happened to Parker but it’s been rumored for quite a while something had happened. He will go to the University of Indianapolis according to a tweet from earlier today.

Parker was complimentary of Coach Stallings and the Vanderbilt coaching staff on his way out.

Johnson had huge potential but off the court issues kept him from making a big impact in Nashville. It’s thought that Johnson was going to transfer to Memphis where he would be eligible to play right away since he didn’t play last year.
